Introduction to Yellow Banks Youth Camping

What is the “Yellow Banks” youth camp, you ask? Yellow Banks Youth Camp is a camping experience aimed at children ages 6-14 to engage them in outdoor skills and STEM-related learning. A year ago, my friend Chance Norris, pictured above with his daughters Payton and Saylor, was concerned about how environmental education is typically incorporated into summer camp. Chance realized he loved this aspect of the centers but recognized it was not the focus of the entire week.

The Benefits of Camping for Youth Groups

Camping provides numerous benefits for youth groups. Camp provides opportunities to build meaningful relationships and friendships, get time away from screens and social media, learn new skills, enjoy nature, have adventures, make memories, form service groups, and have fun! For example, the average American spends 6 hours in front of a screen (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.). This can cause problems because our bodies are maladapted to sitting too much.

The Best Camping Areas for Youth Groups

If you are looking for family camping areas that cater to youth groups, look no further than Yellow Banks State Park. This state park provides easy access for families with a boat ramp and plenty of campsites close to the water to take advantage of lake views. There is also an enormous campground area with 144 sites available, including the best family beach on the lake. It is ideal for kids to splash around while enjoying games and amenities or congregate at large group fire rings before breaking up into cabins.

The Rules of Hammonasset Camping

Camping has always been a great summertime tradition, but it didn’t use to be quite so popular. The first campsites were created on public lands where families could pitch their tents on-site and camp for free. Before there were Yellow Banks, back in the day, this kind of “vacation camping” was typical at Hammonasset Campground in Newport, RI, or Rambling River State Park in Pennsylvania. To see why these state parks have remained so popular over the years.

Primitive Youth Camping at Fort De Soto Park

This young man will have a good time at Fort De Soto Park’s primitive youth camping experience. It is the largest campground in Florida, so it is bound to be a blast. The only downside is that they do not offer refunds since it is weather-dependent, but this seems to be part of the appeal for most people. This package even comes with your very own wood-burning stove and outdoor fireplace!

The Benefits of Primitive Camping for Youth Groups

Research shows that camping is one of the most beneficial activities for youth because it teaches self-reliance, teamwork, commitment, and confidence. Find out how this critical activity could be incorporated into your congregation’s Camp Good Days for All Month event to give kids the best summer experience.

The Rules of Primitive Camping

With the advancement of technology, camping has changed. But sometimes, when your family moves, you must practice old-fashioned skills like fire building, primitive cooking, and finding a great camping spot. Check out this list from Backwoods Expert for six simple tips that will help give your kids the best time of their lives at Yellow Banks Youth Camping.

Conclusion
